Exponential law as a more compatible model to describe orbits of planetary systems
According to the Titus-Bode law, orbits of planets in the solar system obey a geometric progression. Many investigations have been launched to improve this law. In this paper, we apply square and exponential models to planets of solar system, moons of planets, and some extra solar systems, and compare them with each other.
متن کاملSecular Evolution of Hierarchical Planetary Systems
We investigate the dynamical evolution of coplanar hierarchical two-planet systems where the ratio of the orbital semimajor axes α = a1/a2 is small. Hierarchical twoplanet systems are likely to be ubiquitous among extrasolar planetary systems. We show that the orbital parameters obtained from a multiple Kepler fit to the radial velocity variations of a host star are best interpreted as Jacobi c...
متن کاملDynamical evolution of extrasolar planetary systems
To date, more than 130 extrasolar planets around main sequence stars are revealed mainly by the Doppler radial velocity measurements. Due to the observational biases, most of the detected planets are moving in orbits close to the host stars, with some in highly eccentric orbits. Dynamical processes during the late stage of planet formation are important to account for the present orbital proper...
متن کاملSecular Evolution of Planetary Systems in Binaries
The orbital eccentricity of a single planet in a stellar binary system with a sufficiently large mutual inclination angle is known to oscillate on a secular timescale through the Kozai mechanism. We have investigated the effects of the Kozai mechanism on double-planet systems in binaries. The evolutionary sequence of a pair of planets under the influence of a binary companion is fairly complex....
متن کاملInvestigations of the Formation and Evolution of Planetary Systems
Alwyn Wootten, Bryan Butler, Antonio Hales, Stuartt Corder, 1 Robert Brown2 & David Wilner3 Abstract. Stars and planets are the fundamental objects of the Universe. Their formation processes, though related, may differ in important ways. Stars almost certainly form from gravitational collapse and probably have formed this way since the first stars lit the skies. Although it is possible that pla...
